Photo Printers

Photo printers have become extremely advanced and popular with many photography lovers over the last few years, as people are finding out how easy it is to print pictures of their own instead of taking them out to be developed. The photo printers on the market today now provide high quality photos that are extremely easy to use and affordable. The interface for printing a photo used to be a PC or computer, but with the new photo printers, you now send your images directly to the printer from your camera. Some photo printer models have slots built in for directly plugging in flash memory cards, while with others you use a simple device to attach the printer and camera. Choosing the correct photo printer enables you to print wonderful digital photos that will impress not only you but also your friends and family. Selecting the photo printer type and model takes a little research, so that can you understand and purchase one that meets your requirements.

What to Look out for

Along with the cost of photo printers, which vary from reasonably priced to a higher price for professional quality, be sure to look into the cost of the consumables such as paper and ink. Buying an inexpensive printer that uses expensive paper and ink is a poor investment in the end. When shopping for a photo printer, resolution is a very important aspect. Look for a printer with a resolution of 1200 dpi at the very minimum. Remember that the higher the resolution, the clearer and sharper the results. There are different photo printers such as inkjet, professional, all-in-one and portable ones. Low-end photo printers such as liquid ink-jet printers are excellent for personal, low color volume printing. These, and color laser printers, are suitable for realistic images on many different papers. For anyone requiring a very high quality picture, dye sublimation printers produce professional, realistic images.

For people that need photo printers that give them immediate photos, a compact photo printer is the answer. Most of these compact printers produce digital photos of 4 x 6 inches in approximately one minute, as they are equipped with a card reading device or USB cable. For the convenience of having a photo printer that produces immediate photos, the price is considerably higher, but there is no waiting until you return home to see your photos.

Paper

The paper used for creating quality photos is extremely important. There is cast-coated paper, nanoporous paper and resin-coated paper. The resin-coated paper, very similar to a traditional photo, is waterproof and resists tears and kinks. Cast-coated photo paper is very popular because it absorbs particles of ink and is compatible with many different printers. This paper has no gloss and does not give you the typical photograph look.
